Hello Parents!
We are all very excited for our upcoming holiday break (last day is 12/20 and we return on 1/6!) and we're hoping to finish the year strong with our attendance. November and December are notoriously difficult months as we have the holidays and lots of students missing school. Please help and encourage your students to attend the rest of this week- it's a fun week to be at school. We have spirit dress- up days this week, as well as the attendance party at the end of the day today (your students' teacher should have let them know if they are invited to attend) and the school sing-along on Friday!
This month, our school attendance average was 93.6%, with our year-to-date average at 94.9%. Our goal for this year is aggressive at 96% of students attending daily and we hope to be able to achieve it! Thank you for all you are doing to help your students be successful. We appreciate you.

Our Community Council meeting has been rescheduled to next Tuesday, November 26th. at 4:00 pm. We would LOVE to have more community parents on our board. Come take the opportunity to help make decisions. Please join us.

Hello Woods Cross parents!
This month has been fun at Woods Cross Elementary! 7 more classes have had the chance to have classroom attendance parties and we also had our big school-wide attendance party for those with exceptional attendance on October 23rd. We had snacks, and got out our disco ball and party lights. We had a great time! For the month, we ended up with 94.4% average daily attendance (with 95.7% last month and 95.8% the previous month). Our school goal is 96% or better average attendance. We appreciate all you do to get your kids to school every day. We want them to be happy and be successful at school, and consistent attendance is a key factor.
What you can do: Start with talking about the importance of showing up to school every day. Help your child maintain daily nighttime and morning time routines, finish homework and get a good night's sleep.

Our October Focus is Be Kind and Develop Healthy Coping Skills. What healthy skills do you use to help when life gets hard? Take a minute and share those ideas with your child. It's good for them to know that adults use healthy coping skills too. #WXWolverineStrong

National PTA Reflections Program is an arts program that recognizes students for their original artwork. It is offered free of charge to all students in grades k-12. It gives students the opportunity to express themselves around a yearly theme and be recognized for their abilities. The goal of the program is to encourage creativity, build confidence, and develop artistic literacy. Students can express themselves through six categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts. With a Special Artist category for anyone with a disability. Projects will be judged per grade division and have the ability to advance from school to regional, state, and national levels.
Each year students express their hope, their feelings and their worlds centered around a student created theme. The theme for the year 2024-2025 will be “Accepting Imperfection”. Students and parents can find all rules and guidelines at www.utahpta.org/reflections. The art will also be submitted online at this website. Projects are individual and student created. Students are allowed to submit 1 project per category. Projects will be due October 23, 2004. Get creative and have fun!

Our school's attendance goal for the 2024-2025 school year is 96% or better average attendance. We met our goal for the first month of school! (August 15-September 15)
Kinder: 95.26%
1st: 95.04%
2nd: 97.27%
3rd: 95.96%
4th: 96.50%
5th: 96.10%
6th: 94.39%
School average: 96.31%
The students are working together with their classmates to earn a class attendance party. These are earned by having 10 days of good class attendance (no absences and no tardies). Last year, students had fun parties like an extra recess with ice cream or a game in their classroom with treats like brownies, sundaes, Root beer floats or donuts! 5th and 6th grades were told that if they could earn an attendance party by the end of the first term (Oct 16), we would get them a pizza party. Please remind your students that their class is counting on them!
